The Historical Society of Ocean Grove is dedicated to education and
to a legacy of past tradition which in current practice is preserved
that includes the Camp Meeting heritage, the famous people who visited
this family seashore resort, the historic
buildings/structures/objects we maintain, and the largest assemblage
of authentic 19th century Victorian architecture in the nation. The HSOG relies on private funding and corporate donations as well as grant funding thorough various historical agencies and corporate and private trust funds to accomplish its goals. The New Jersey Historical Commission has awarded to the Historical Society of Ocean Grove a General Operating Support
Grant for the year's 2010-2011. The Commission awarded a second grant to the Historical Society in the amount of $3,000 in 2007 for
Conservation of Historical Materials and a second grant in the amount
of $13,662 in 2008 for Digitization of the Ocean Grove Record.
Mission Statement
Since its founding in 1970, the
Historical Society of ocean grove has pledged itself to preserve,
document, and encourage community interest in the History of Ocean
Grove. The purpose of this non-profit Society is to sustain the
heritage and honor of being designated a National Historic District. Certificate of Corporation filed with the Monmouth County Clerk 12 March, 1970; Book 122, Page 556.
