Come join us this summer in Ocean Grove.   If you’re a first-time visitor, this is your opportunity to learn about the unique history of the area which was settled as a camp meeting in 1869. If you’re familiar with our history, peruse our busy calendar offering a variety of activities to enhance your knowledge and enjoyment of Ocean Grove.

We’ll be presenting our 49th Annual House Tour on Friday, August 4. Once again, you will have the privilege of touring some of the outstanding homes here in Ocean Grove. The house tour begins at 10:30 AM and runs until 4:30 PM. Tickets are available at the museum at this time. Prices are $30 prior to August 4 and $35 the day of the tour.  Please purchase tickets at the museum or use the PayPal button  below for tickets.

August 9 features our annual Teddy Bear Picnic.  Children (and their teddy bears) from ages 4-11 are invited to spend two hours in a variety of activities.  Story hour, games, a scavenger hunt, and arts and crafts comprise part of their time with us.  Lunch is served to all and a sweet treat from Days Ice Cream completes the activities.  The Teddy Bear Picnic runs from 11-1 on August 9 and the cost is $25 for 1 child, 1 adult, and of course, a teddy bear!  Pre-registration is required.  

The Beersheba Awards will be presented on Thursday, August 10 on the porch of Starving Artist at 7:00 PM.  These awards recognize homeowners, businesses, and individuals who commit time and effort to restoring their unique properties that maintain the

 quality of the historic district of Ocean Grove.   The cost is $8.  Tickets are available at the door.  Come to learn more about the efforts of these homeowners and discover what makes Ocean Grove so special!


Our Women’s Walking Tours will be held on 4 separate occasions this summer. Dr. Lyndell O’Hara leads an intimate tour to various stops in Ocean Grove where women made history.  Costumed actors represent Ocean Grove women such as evangelist Phoebe Palmer, Amanda Berry Smith, a former slave who became an inspiration to many, innkeeper sisters Lydia and Matilda Bull, and others.  The dates of these tours are Thursday, June 29 at 10:30AM; Thursday, July 27 at 6:30 PM; Thursday, August 24 at 10:30 AM; and Saturday, September 23 at 10:30 AM.  Space is limited & you  must pre-register, so either call for a reservation at 732-774-1869.  Cost is $12; $10 for seniors.  The tour is on foot and lasts approximately 90 minutes.  The tour begins at the museum at 50 Pitman Avenue.

Are you an architectural buff? We’re introducing a new walking tour this summer entitled “From Tents to Turrets: An Architectural History of Ocean Grove Homes”.  Dr. Jenny Shaffer, an architectural historian,  will consider the exterior of select homes in Ocean Grove, a state and national historic district.  Examples will include a camp meeting tent, Victorian cottages, and twentieth-century homes. The date for this tour is Tuesday, July 25 at 10:30 AM.   Space is limited and you must pre-register, so either call for a reservation at 732-774-1869 .  Cost is $12; $10 for seniors.  The tour is on foot and lasts approximately 90 minutes.  The tour begins at the museum at 50 Pitman Avenue.

****Due to popular demand, a second tour has been added to our schedule- Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:15 AM.  Again, reservations are a must, so please call the museum to save your slot!

Want to develop your crafting skills? We offer classes which will assist in that endeavor. Check our workshops page for our exciting classes- quilting, card-making, paper beads, Entangles, paper lanterns, paper-cutting, friendship bracelets, and many more. Many of our participants are repeaters as they’ve gained so much from the talented instructors who present these classes each summer.img_0324

Announcing a brand-new episode of Curiosities of Ocean Grove: “Orphans of Ocean Grove 1878-1902”.

Find out about Ocean Grove’s long history of taking an interest in orphans, including tales of the 19th century orphans who came to Ocean Grove by trainload in the summer, and the link between Ocean Grove orphans and the scandalous evangelist Henry Wharton.
