Join us this summer at the Centennial Cottage for our unique, challenging, and fun craft workshops!  Discover new crafts and techniques, make new friends, and learn from expert instructors

February 25, Saturday-12:30-2:00- BRITISH HIGH TEA (includes light lunch)-$25

February 26, Sunday-12:30-2:30-INTRODUCTION TO ZENTANGLE-$31-(Includes $10 Kit Fee)
No talent or experience is needed. You will learn 4-6 basic Zentangle designs. This art form is relaxing, creative, meditative, and quite fun. Each structured pattern will be broken down into small steps & what results are beautiful, creative, & unique images. Tangles are created on small paper tiles using a special black drawing pen. You will leave class with 1 or 2 completed tiles & new skills to continue tangling on your own. The Zentangles Method was created by Rick Roberts & Maria Thomas.  Held in Museum

March 11, Saturday-10:00-12:00-CARDMAKING: SIX SPRING-THEMED GREETING CARDS-$31-(Includes $10 Kit Fee )
Participants will make 6 spring-themed greeting cards using “Hello Lovely” pastel papers & embellishment collection from Close to My Heart. There will be extra “message stamps” on hand to customize your cards. Please bring your own paper crafting adhesive (like Tombow), glue dots, small sharp scissors, & paper cutter. These items can be purchased at local craft stores (like Michaels) OR can be ordered from Close to My Heart (pathawkins.ctmh.com)  Held in Museum

March 11, Saturday-2:00-4:00 PM- SCRAPBOOKING: TWO SPRING-THEMED LAYOUTS-$31-(Includes $10 Kit Fee)

July 6-Thursday- 7:00-9:00INTRO TO PAPERCUTTING 101$29-(Includes $8 Kit Fee)
Papercutting is an ancient art dating back to the creation of paper during the 1st century in China. Since that time, artisans have used paper, scissors,& knives to create objects both ornamental & functional. Perhaps you made a snowflake in grade school or have seen silhouettes. These are forms of papercutting. Bring your own cutting mat & xacto knife, if you have them. If you use readers to see up close, feel free to bring them.  Held in Museum

We will make 2 interesting paper lanterns. One we will donate to the Historical Society for Luminary Night to decorate Centennial Cottage & the other you will create for yourself. Materials will be supplied, but if you have any special items you would like to add to your 1-of-a-kind lantern, feel free to bring that to make yours truly a unique creation.  Held in Museum

July 28-Friday-10:30-12:30ZENTANGLE-BEYOND THE BASICS-RENAISSANCE TILES$31-(Includes $10 Kit Fee)
In this workshop, participants will create Zentangle Renaissance tiles. Students will become familiar with the techniques that will give their work that recognizable Renaissance look & feel. Building on tangles learned in Introduction to Zentangle, you will also learn new tangles. Working on Zentangle Renaissance Tiles, students will use brown, black, & white pens to work the surface, & continue to create shadow & highlight with graphite & white charcoal pencils. You will leave class with 1 or 2 new tiles & new skills to continue tangling on your own. All materials are supplied. To participate in this workshop, you must have attended the Introduction to Zentangle class either in Ocean Grove or elsewhere.

July 31-Monday-10:30-2:30INTRODUCTION TO QUILTING:BASIC HAND PIECING$42-(Includes $5 Kit Fee)
Learn the history of quilt making while creating a hand pieced quilt block. You will learn to use templates to create blocks using the basic hand piecing stitch. You will be making a basic quilt block using squares & triangles. Bring a small scissors for snipping threads & a needle threader if you use one. The word appliqué means “to apply”. Learn to sew fabric shapes to a background fabric in a technique you can use to make quilts or adorn shirts or other clothing. Bring a small scissors for snipping threads. Also feel free to bring lunch or snacks as we will be taking a short lunch break.

Grandmother’s Flower Garden is a quilt pattern that became popular during the Depression Era. Learn English Paper Piecing which is a technique that will turn hexagons into this beautiful pattern.
